I would like this thread to become a compilation of slingshot games you can play against someone or by yourself. I have read about Slingshot (SS) tennis and now SS golf. I was wondering what game do you know. State if it is against another shooter or one you can play by yourself. Either way it should be fun to hear what we all do to keep the practicing fun and fresh. Any suggestions?
By the way: Can whoever talked about the above mentioned games restate in this thread how to play them and the rules so we all have one thread to look in? thanks rem

I have a game..me and my friends that shoot will often times play HORSE and its just like playing HORSE in basket ball. just pick a distance that everyone is very comfortable shooting at (otherwise the game is too hard) like 10 or 15 feet, and no target can be over that distance. then you just mix up the shots (sitting, standing, oposite hand, upside down, bank off a rock, leaf in a tree, move a stick left or right, whatever ) when someone misses a challenge they get a letter, last one to spell out HORSE wins.

finding sling shot friends is easy...just wip up a few cheapo tree fork slingshots and hand them out to your neighbors, or the kids in your neighborhood...youll have more slingshot buddies than you will know what to do with. i have yet to meet anyone that didnt have a good time shooting a pop can with a slingshot. and as an extra bonus "no more stray cats in the neighborhood!":D:D

i dont think a slingshot is much good without a good safety training program. I guess thats where i come in.....but what im really talking about is guys like you who like to be together, shoot, enjoy the weather, and adult conversation. I had a great friend in alaska years ago. Several times a month we would go rabbit hunting, shooting was fun but mostly we just walked the woods talking about stuff.
I guess id be more inclined to do the "here's a slingshot, lets go talk about hunting and world politics," but im not very fluent in tagalog. My choice, I know, i get ribbed by my brother all the time, so thats why i only asked for a little internet comoradery.
thank you for your suggestions though...I might get desperate......

thank you statikpunk.
back to the topic
when i use to shoot recurve bow there was a game we played over a comparatively large area of forest. One would walk along a path where shooting lanes were periodically arranged, perhaps as many as 10 or 20. when you encountered a marked lane you would nock your arrow and fire at the target. the cool part was that the target was a rubber or foam replication of an animal like a deer or a racoon. there would be as many different targets as there were shooting lanes.
some lanes required you to kneel, some stand, and some sit. they sometimes put obsticals in the way you had to shoot around. It was so fun, the occasional lost arrow didnt matter. sometimes when you missed your target you would find someone elses arrow instead of your own. all found arrows were put in a bucket where you could look for your lost arrows the next time you played.
I went to several competitions in ocala, florida where i met a host of terrific people of all makes and sizes. It was some of the most fun ive ever had with a shooting sport.
I wonder if there are simular events or courses in the slingshot world. Im thinking of setting up a simular course here. perhaps I wont have large rubber animals, but hanging steel plates and other non breakables instead, at different elevations.
what do you think?

the archery club that i belonged to did the same thing...and I too have been trying to think of a way to do the same thing with slingshots, in my hometown..i was definantly thinking that steel plates would be the best, because of the very positive auditory "DING" when you hit it.
I have been thinking about asking the archery club, if i could just place, brightly colored small animal shaped steel plates along their course, and then anyone who belonged to the archery club could also shoot the slingshot course. thus increasing their membership, and expanding the slingshot experience.
if i thought i could get a decent slingshot club together in my town (with a reasonable number of members) i would do it.

now that is an outstanding idea.....but to tell you a little secret, i remember the long bow guys in florida were a bit prejudiced about other forms of shooting, they even excluded archers with cross bows or compound bows.
I think if the archery club you approach is more open minded, and smart, they will accept the thwackers (slingshot shooters) with open arms.
let me repeat......."...that is an outstanding idea."

my town is small enough that if they were prejudice they would all be shooting alone. i was one of only about 4 guys that shot mostly traditional.
