Chief AJ here in Tuscola, IL. Way back in 1949 when I received my membership in the National Slingshot Association I got this photo with the NSA membership card. All 4 young men from 1949 are posing shooting LH. Even at age 12 I saw they shoot like me, LH. If I would throw 4 slingshots to 4 people they would mostly likley shoot RH. Any one know who any of the shooters are? Are any still with us? Larger photo at www.nationalslingshotassociation.org

Chief AJ and now I realize why I put my thumb and trigger finger up on the forks. I studied the 1949 photo when I was 12 trying to shoot like a “grown-up” and all 4 shooter have their thumb and trigger finger up on the forks with the Wham-O turned horizontal. I read that back then from the Wham-0 the “grown-ups” used a pouch full of BBs for Quail Hunting. In Central Illinois we did not have Quail, but I did down “spaties” or sparrows with a load of BBs while walking the Railroad tracks. This past summer I use a load of BBs to shoot incoming trap birds and that is a big hoot. In the photos you can see the standard 4" trap clay bird high in air coming in over head about 35 mph. Then you can see the pieces as the load of BBs hit the clay. Yes, this past summer I shoot, shoot & shoot using up many sets of flatbands, tubes, pouches and frames. I have frames with many dents, frames that I made out of 3/4" plywood which broke in a few shots. Then I got slingshots from Flatband which became the "WRS" and no more troulbes just hits. Now "Flatband" has an assigment for the new Nation Slingshot Association to build up a "Ergo Wham-O" which is under way. Here's a sneak preview on the NSA Commemorative Limted Edition Numbered Slingshot. www.chiefaj.com

OK, Patch, I sold some Chief AJ adult sized BB Daisy Guns to Thomas A Rodgers III that runs one of those Quail Plantations and I have a call into Tom now about possibly having a National Slingshot Association Quail Outing near Albany, GA. www.nationalslingshotassociation.org
