The new “Quick Point” was not developed sitting in a computer chair by a desk jockey but shooting in the field on camera for the Anything Wild TV show on slingshots which is being put-together at this time. The QP is 3 oz with its Aluminum rod frame reinforced by being encapsulated in a Polyolefin tube which makes the super light weight stable and solid for power slingshot shooting. The forks are also encapsulated so the forefinger and thumb can be placed up on forks. This gives the shooter the feeling that the tubes are tied to their finger and thumb. The Hugh 4” sight picture is a must for Quick Point shooting and allows the use of large balls, rocks, bolts, nuts or whatever can be picked up for ammo on the spot. With the Hi-Power Black tubes on TV camera and still camera Chief AJ did shoot .45 cal lead balls clean through flying pheasants. “If not done on camera – it never happen.” Quote form Chief AJ’s TV show producer Zach Cook. There is also a Palm Grip on the bottom of the handle which allows fast Quick Point Power Shooting. Again this is not slingshot theory but proven on a fast tough target of flushing pheasants. Now the QP has been used in a second Anything Wild TV show, during a Trophy Buck Hunt in Western Nebraska the Chief did shoot the QP during the mid-day breaks. Jimmy Durako Host of the TV show tossed CHARCOAL BRIQUETS high in the air and Chief AJ busted the charcoal into dust and small pieces with the white marbles out of the QP with black tubes. That is pin-point shooting from a power slingshot. Oh, in the playback the white marbles sure do act as a “tracer” and the white ball sure shows up hitting the black charcoal. The QP is a boxed set with CD ROM on Quick Point shooting that Chief AJ has been teaching for 21 years now. Right now QP’s are being shipped around the World from: www.chiefaj.com OR www.slingshotsusa.com In the photo Chief AJ is holding up the first Bird taken on TV camera and photo of the Boxed Set.

Chief AJ here in Tuscola, IL. I just got some 40 cal lead balls from: http://www.possibleshop.com/ball-bullet.htm they weigh 95 grs. Slingshots USA has 38 cal and 44 cal: http://www.slingshotsusa.com/index.php?cPath=164_204
44 and 45 cal lead balls do not curve bad when shot hard. I am going to test the 40 cal for this and pentration. I know I can get over 200fps out of the 40 cal. lead.

Chief AJ,your quick point looks like you modified a Trumark S9. Is that so or is it built "from the ground up?"

The S9 twisted in my hand do to how hard I shoot and that is mushy. I was telling Ray Priest about that before Slingshots USA came up to Tuscola, IL for the Guinness World Record Slingshot Shoot last September 27 & 28. On September 27 in the Big Red Barn restaurant after the days shoot of 1,000 flying targets with WRS (World Record Slingshot). I get such a good warm solid feel with the wooden WRS that I can shoot 1000 aimed times in a row, this takes over 6 hours.
So, back to the round dinner table over supper, Ray handed me a white Box. I know inside would be a slingshot for Ray and I eat, sleep and shoot Slingshots. Ray took what I told Him and found some Industrial Strength Heavy Duty shrink wrap and applied this to the handle of the S9. Ray added a neat palm stop at the bottom and put more Industrial wrap on the forks for my thumb and trigger finger for the way I shoot. That is like the tubes are fastened to my thumb and trigger finger. Even after 1000 shots I went home to my basement range and tried out Ray introversions and WOW the S9 was now stable and felt solid almost like real wood. After shooting 500 more targets on September 28 with the WRS I took a whole day off from slingshot shooting. Then I went to the field with the “QUICK POINT” that Ray built up for me. I really like the large 4” sight window, the stable feeling at full draw and the 3 oz total weight of the “Quick Point” .
I took the QP with me to do a ANYTHING WILD Pheasant Hunting TV show. Well, I had at lease 4 ”QP’s” in my hunting jacket pockets. One of the shots with the QP and .45 cal lead ball stands out in my mind, now this is in the TV show and on DVD, The Bird Dog “Champ” came on point. As I moved in the Bird flushed and did not climb but took off low about waist high flying just over the mullet heads. I was able to shoot DOWN on the bird racing away and the lead ball hit so hard the pheasant was SLAMED to the ground. This was about a 50 foot shot. I would not write this except millions of people will see this on The Sportsman Ch soon and available on DVD now.
When you ask 71 year old Chief AJ shooting question you get long answers. www.chiefaj.com

hahaha,(that thing you said at the end was funny chiefaj)
anyway, let me explaine it this way,i have a s9 at the house and a QP.
will one of my friends was over and he was looking at my slingshots,he picked up the s9 and said "this slingshot,it allmost feels flimsy, like its just going to break in my hand" now get this, this is no lie,he picks up the QP and says "now see,if i was going to shoot i would think this is the better slingshot"
not even knowing that its the same exact one! the QP just feels dang good in your hand,i love it!

Is it possible to shoot the Saunders Hawk in the same "Chief A.J." manner? Or do the curved forks make this impossible? I currently live in Southeast Asia where flat bands and "cubed"(more like a rectangle in diameter) rubber are much cheaper(like 20-30 cents a band) and easily available. I shoot an S9 with the cubed rubber and it works all right but I am sure it's not nearly as powerful as those Trumark black bands, I sincerely doubt it would shoot a .45 caliber lead ball through a pheasant. I cast .31 and .38 caliber lead balls in a Do-It slingshot pellet mold for my shooting. I would like to get a Q.P. also, but was wondering if the Hawk might be a wide forked flat band alternative being able to use the materials at hand.
In the Philippines I found what may be the coveted "red inner-tube" rubber of days gone by, but I am not old enough to recognize it to be sure.Maybe someone can confirm or deny this?Irregardless it seems to be pretty darned good stuff, no powder forms on it like the Thai rubbers I have also used, a telltale sign of inferior quality I am told.

Hey mr. joel, Chief AJ here in Central Illinois USA, near the University of Illinois. Great to hear from the Philippines about slingshots. We sure want the new http://www.nationalslingshotassociation.org to be World Wide. I looked at a photo of the Hawk and do not think I could apply the proper hold on the curved forks. Now about your S9 would it be possible to double up the “cubed bands”. By that I mean two on each side alongside each other which might give you super power. Try putting on one set the regular way and then add a set with slip ties or some other clever way. Mr.joel you took me way back when I went behind a Gas Station in the 40’s looking for red rubber inter tubes. When I found one is was like “finding Gold”. I would cut into strips and then shoot rocks until the Sun went down out of a Apple tree fork that my Granddad made for me when I was 5. Let us all know if “double cubed bands” will work. Your shoot’en buddy, AJ

The "innertube" rubber is very bright red, about 1/16 diameter and can be had in approx 1/2" and 3/4" widths. I bought one of the w
ider lengths, but am thinking try the 1/2" as well. I'll be going back to Thailand soon, but I have a friend here who is interested in marketing the stuff to you guys in the states to supplement his meager college student income. If anyone wan
ts a sample, we'll try to work something out. I would really like to know if I found "the goods."
I will try your idea, Chief A.J.. I will also join the N.S.A.(oh man, what am I saying, am I a spy or something?) when my finances permit it. Currently I am an unemployed ESL(English as a second language) teacher which is why I am returning to Thailand. I am from Montana, by the way.
Slingshot shooting is very popular in Asia. Some of the shots I have seen are nothing short of spectacular. I saw a guy once in Thailand shoot a bird in a tree at around 45-50 yards away, didn't kill it I suspect my .38 lead ball he was using lost all oomph at that range. I myself used to shoot fish in the very common fish ponds.

hi everyone
the revamped s9 is truly a nice shooter. it has a nice grip and very light weight also. i have purchased one myself and i like it. the piece shoots accurate and has enough power to take out squirrels at 10 yds. that is with the standard bands ,using a 3/8 steel ball.
at about 12 yds i hit a squirrell in the shoulder and it penetrated almost completely through him. needless to say..it put him down for the count.
even so, i still like the over the top, wood frame ergo`s that can handle more powerful flatbands.
imho, and others i know,.....they seem more accurate and consistent.
i have taken rabbits out to 25yds using 5/8 tapered flatbands, and hitting them with a 3/8... .357 lead round ball.
at 15yds.. the ball will pass through.
so, basically ...if you can pull it...the wood ergo`s can handle it.

I have had my QS 4 days now. And today after maybe shooting 50 marbles . I came inside because it was getting dark. Upon placing the QS on the shelf i noticed the left band was half broken at the fork. Upon futher inspection. I noticed the right band was a little broken at the fork aswell. I have no idea why this would have happend. I take verry good care of my slingshots. I applied some 303 aerospace protectent to the bands 4 days ago when i first received the QS in the mail. I store the slingshot in a safe place, and inspect it before and after each use. and prior to this evening the bands showd no sign of ware. thease bands maybe had 400 shots on them. I removed the damaged bands. Inspected the forks. And replaced the bands. which sucks because now i have no backup bands. If anyone has any ideas why this might have happend . or any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening again it would be grately appreiciated. Thanks Samoset

to be honest i think your lucky you got 400 shots, those marbles are to light same thing happend with me.. then i used .38 cal lead balls and got llike 2000 shots. those black trumark bands are strong they are hungry for heavy ammo

Dear CheifAJ

you mean that the shrink wrap tubes really worked in preventing any distortion to the trumark S9 aluminium forks? if it's really effective, then the heat-shrink must be doing lots of work in damping the impact during making a shot.

i'm new into this forum. i'm from malaysia. i've bought a QP slingshot with Black powerband from you and got your autographs as well. great shooter that will deliver heavier ammunition over longer distances with better accuracy. i've shot a marble to a roofing metal-sheet. the marble ammo made a cavity into the metal

12/25/08 glad to hear that you are shooting your QP hard. The QP is for POWER SLINGSHOT SHOOTING. The WRS wooden slingshot that Flatband made for me to shoot the Guinness World Record with is for finesse shooting. It was neat packing up all the material that I sent with your QP to Malaysia, I wanted to surprise you with the extras. We all are in this together. Back in 1949 when I got my mail order Wham-O lots of info came with the wooden slingshot and I just did post a lot of this info at: http://www.chiefaj.com/nsa_commemorative_slingshot.htm
