I wanted to shoot flatbands on a factory frame because I liked the features of the metal frames and handle. The only model that I liked was the FSX-2000 by Trumark. The post is already upright and the conversion would require the least amount of modification.
To start with you will need to be sure that you want to shoot flatbands as once you start this project you can never go back. The FSX-2000 was the only model that the store had in at the time and it is a $30.00 slingshot so again be sure. Trumark makes other models that will work fine and they are the FSXFO, The Bat, and the S9FO.
Pull the rotating tips off by squeezing the tip with a pair of pliers while pulling and at the same time wiggling side to side and the rotating tip will come off. There will be a plastic ring which will drop down and you can cut it off or slide it off the post once the tab has been filed off.

Picture shows the tab that you will file off. Next get a piece of 1/4" ID brass tubing and cut 2 pieces 1" long. Get 2 number 10 flat washers and drill the inside hole out to where it will just fit over the outside of the tubing. Do not have it too loose or it will be hard to solder. Next force fit the washers on each end of the tubing and solder them in place.
Picture shows the stock #10 washer and the drilled out one. The one drilled out looks bigger but it is not as it is an illusion. Next picture show how the finished piece will look on the Slingshot.

This is how it will look after the tips are put on and painted. The tips were put on with 5 minute epoxy. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU USE J.B. WELD AS IT WILL NOT GET SOFT WITH HEAT LIKE REGULAR EPOXY DOES. Be sure to rough up the inside of the tube and the post on the slingshot so the glue will sick. The brass tubing was cut at 1" because it is about the max length you can put on the post and it will still allow you to cut your bands a little larger than 1" and they will fit inside the washers when you stretch them out to tie off.

Why go to the trouble? Flatbands will give you a whole new world of playing and expierimenting. You can make heavy bands, light bands, tapered bands, parallel cut bands and everything in between. Play with new pouch designs. Plus with the FSX-2000 you can use the wrist brace and stabilizer. When I shoot moving target I take them off and now I will be trying some target shooting with all the goodies put on.
