I started shooting a couple of months ago. I shoot in my back yard, mostly at 10 meters at a 2 ½ inch round target hanging form a sting. I’m almost always within 3 or 4 inches of the target but only hit the target 1 or 2 times out to 10 shots. What I’d like to know is at this distance what would be considered good shooting? Any suggestions on other distances and target size would be appreciated.

in the book "slingshot shooting" he talks about in the old slingshot contest,it took about 30% consistentcy to win a contest at 10 meters (hitting the bulls eye 30% of the time).now its like 75% or 80%.but if you can manage 30%.then your like the old pros :)

Hello Kenny: Here is what I am using to shoot at I am standing 10 yards away, and I use a NRA official B-4 Target. It is 10½" x 12", 3¾" Black,
20 Yard Slow Fire Pistol target.

I use that one as the black area is 3-3/4" diameter, which is very close to the 10cm bull that I have seen used in a number of slingshot tournaments.

I figure that if you would shoot at it with a gun from 20 yards, it would seem that 10 yards is about right for a slingshot.

This is just something I put together for myself. I do not know that there is much in the way of standards for shooting.

Two things that will determine accuracy is time spent in practice and a good stable slingshot. I place slingshot stability to be the number one requirement for good shooting. A quick definition of a stable slingshot is one that does not exaggerate a shooting error. I have one slingshot that I like to shoot because it feels good but if you make one small mistake it will miss a 4 X 6 foot backstop. I have another one that I don't care how bad a mistake you make it will only cause you to barely miss. The picture below was shot using Flatbands full ergo at 25 feet. This is my standard target which is a small screw cap. My average hit is 2 to 3 out of ten shots.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've seen the book "Slingshot Shooting" mentioned more than once so I'll have to order it pretty soon. I'm still setting my target area up in the backyard so I still can use the suggestions you guy have gave me.

I think 4 or 5 times out of ten is pretty good for the size of your target. Jt
