I just got back from the Summer Nationals Slingshot tournament held in Waverly Illinois. This event is put together by Kent Shepard and his family. They did a wonderful job of setting up and feeding all the contestants. We had a great time. There were targets all over set at all kinds of distances 10 meters,20,30.There were arrow shooting slingshots, speed shooting events(Kent is unreal) hidden targets in the woods, sillouettes, team events, hitting targets while walking(no stopping-very cool) accuracy shooting(how about hitting the ace out of a playing card at 5 meters?)The event was won by Mr.Jerry Blanchard a tremendous shooter and great guy who has won this tournament more then anyone else.I had a great time and recommend going to a tournament for all slingshooters. You'll learn a lot and have a lot of fun with people who share your interest.A wonderful experience and looking forward to going again.Flatband:)

Thank you , thank you.
One of the highlights of this year’s Summer National Slingshot Tournament was the showing of a DVD that was aired on the local PBS television station. The 30-minute program was all about slingshots and the annual slingshot tournament. In the program, Kent Shepard did a fantastic job of inlighting the program host (Mark McDonald) about the world of slingshots. Some of the highlights were Kent’s demonstration of speed shooting, his extensive (600) slingshot collection, and a romp in the woods shooting metal rabbits and squirrels.
I liked it so much I ordered a copy for myself directly from the broadcast company.
If anyone is interested, the DVD can be purchased for $24.95 (VHS tape $19.95).
You can order it by phone at 1-800-232-3605. Or send check to:

The tentive date for the Summer Nationals in 2008 is June 26, 27, & 28. We are going to 3 days so we can have more fun. You don't have to be there everyday, but can shoot the event in 2 days if you want to. I missed shooting the rabbits and squjirrels because time ran out for me. Hope to see many of you there. It will be Fun.

I just sent my entry form in for this years Summer Nationals Slingshot Tournament in Waverly Illinois. I had a heck of a time getting a Motel with a vacant room. If anyone plans on going, start calling now for reservations. I always wait too long on these things. Worse case scenario-you'll have to pitch a tent! Hope a lot of people come. It's nice to meet other shooters. You don't have to shoot for score. It's a very laid back tournament. Shoot if you want, buy, trade or just talk slingshots. See you there! Flatband:)

This sounds like something I'd like to be a part of, so consider me in the mix. I am the next generation of slingshot talent. I can't wait to teach you guys a thing or two about speed and accuracy. Bring your notepads, because i plan on giving plenty of instructions.

Check out my web site for more information. www.slingshots.net
Hope to see everyone at the tournament this summer.

ATT: All tournament shooters
Trumark is donating 18 Model FS-1 slingshots to the tournament. Kent will hand them out to the first 18 shooters that participate in a special event where the shooters must use just the FS-1 Folding Slingshot.
The rules of the "shoot out" will be set up by Kent. The winner will receive $100.00 prize money, "on the spot"! Since it's a bit hard to shoot without ammo, the winner will also receive 15 lbs of white Tracer® Brand marbles. (About 2,500 shots)
Hope all will have a great time getting together, catching up on old friendships, and "firing" away. As Kent says "Aim High & Shoot Straight"! :)

This past weekend I came back from the Summer Nationals Slingshot Tournament. This year the Masters was won by Jaybird (Jay Schott),who was outstanding in all the events. There was a tie for 1st place(the other shooter wasn't there for a shootoff) so they took the next best score in the nearest similar event, which was won by Jaybird with a perfect score of 50. 3rd and 4th place was also very close. Shooting was real close with all scores being only 3-4 points separating 4th from 1st. Trumark had a special shoot where you had to shoot a FS-1 straight out of the package(no practice shots)-25 shots 10 meters, highest score wins $100 cash. Jaybird won that event also. All participants got to keep the slingshots. Trumark also gave out a lot of prizes for the different events. Slingshots USA was also involved in the prize giveaways with some very nice gifts also. A great job by these 2 wonderful companies. Something else that was pretty cool was a target made by Kent Sheppard and his sons that had a framework of wood and the targets were circular saw blades. There were 7 shots put through the saw blade shaft holes which are 3/4" wide-from 10 meters! Kent Sheppard and his family did a great job on everything and even with the crazy weather, we all had a good time. Flatband:)
