Hello!
I wonder if any of you can recommend a good rubber tube for the Chinese Dangkung type slingshot?

I am considering ordering tube from http://www.dankung.com...
The rubber from them is cheap but is it good? Or maybe it's better to buy red or green theratube ... There's a lot of different sizes of the rubber too

Is there anyone who has an eye on which is best?

I´m going to do my own version of the Chinese type slingshot and need rubber for it...

Merry Christmas to you all!
/ Jorgen

Hi slangbellan I have tried slingshots with flatband but my preference for the dankung is the 17*45 tubing that is 1.7mm x 4.5m it is very strong & lasts. I get very good power & speed when the Dankung shooting technique is applied.

I've been wondering what those numbers meant. 1.7mm I'm guessing is the wall thickness, but is 4.5mm the inner or outer diameter?

no, 1,7 mm is the inner diameter and 4,5 the outer diameter

the rubber tubes from china are very good, i have the 20/40 , 17/45 and the 30/60

all are from good quality dipped latex

but don't forget, a thin latex sheet performs muuuuuch better than each tube

Hi, i just have a quick question i think fits in this thread,

Is the yellow theratube good for chinese slingshots or is it still too thick? i mean the rubber dankung sells seems so thin.. I know the theratube would work, but i was thinking if it can move enough around, or if the "eyes" are too narrow?

/Matt

I am right now testing theratube in all colors on my self made dankung (You can see pics in my presentation). Think the best in 8 strands configuration are the tan (the weakest in production) but unfortunately they where not disposable in the shop. Yellow are good enaught in 4 strands config but the classic surgical tubes appears to act faster and strongher . In 8 strands the Yellow are very fast but, for me, a little too hard and way too strong the medical stuff. Red:I can use in four strand but they does not seem to ad other than fisical stress to my shooting. From Green to Black I am able only to use in the classic two strand (one each brace). In a nutshell untill I will not receive the original dankung with the spare tubes I order I will stick will yellow 4 strands and surgical four strands: bot plinking and occasionally hiunting. One of the best thing of the chinese stilecatty is that You can change the tube set in a glance if the ears are a little open: to avoid slipage of the riubbers out of the ears I have shifted a piece of tube on the fork.

to avoid slipage of the riubbers out of the ears I have shifted a piece of tube on the fork. I haven't heard of anyone so far having trouble with that, but I've always wondered if it could happen. Apparently so. When you say a piece of tubing on the fork, are you talking about rubber tubing that slides in place to close the ear slots?

please consider my dankung is salfe made so ears mae be more open than originals. That said I cutted and whetted about 4 cm of green tube in alcol and then had it slide trought the ears untill the conjunction of the braces. Tubes are short enaught to end where the curl beggan so that thei clogs the open space between the curls and the straight part of rod. When I need to change the rubbers I roll them just like a socks on a leg.The ears are not covered by the piece of tube of course. Hope make myself understood.

I have also had problems with the rubber goes out of the ear on the Dankung, on my "jungle hunter" i taped the fork so the opening get smaller...
And there is nothing i have problems with now...
They're fun to shoot with! :)

I post here my observation on the other sling shot forum where I am guest.

"Received my Danhkung from China today. I am sthinking chinese rubbers are way underrated. I have done some test (unprofessional) with the cattys You can see in pics and the thin pale oriental stuff resoulted absolutly the best performer. Whith a 9 mm (3/8 steel ball) I was able to pass, with every slingshots, several polistyr and cardboard layers. But then a thin metal net on the back of the shooting box stopped the bullets. Except for the dankung. The four strands stuff passed trou the net as a hot blade in butter. I still have to try same mod with the cherry bands from thera to see if they perform better tha thera tubes. But at the moment China rules. That sayd realize please that lenght of rubbers are different, I shoothed hand free (no fix standing non standard pull) so this are no more than personal's assetments. But also the ear's chonomethers (You know, the feeling between pouch release snap and impact) say to me that this thin rubber tubes are very good"

supposition confirmed. Cherry thera bands, made from exercise ring, are good, With a butterfly shot the net was passed

I find the 1745* 4 strand tubes on the Bi-Thor Dankung very powerful shooting 9.5mm steel ammo, I also own the sniper and have 6 strands of 1745* on that one and use bigger ammo 16mm steel, as 9.5mm is too small for the power of the bands making it difficult to get a grip. I have to say my favourite is the small but powerful Bi-Thor and practice with it every day.
